Illuminating Leadership. Empowering People of Action.
Project Archie is a community-built, open-source AI companion that helps Rotary district leaders interpret policy, navigate governance questions, and work through challenges in real time—with cited references to the specific RI documents that apply. All of the prompts, instruction code, and governing documents that power Archie are shared openly here, updated each Rotary year, and free for any Rotarian to use or adapt.
Archie is not an official RI product, but it is built entirely on publicly available Rotary International documents with safeguards designed to reinforce compliance and proper escalation. If you have used Archie and found it helpful, or built a customization that works for your district, we would love to hear about it. Feedback, use cases, and contributions from the Rotary community are what make this project better. Reach out anytime at [email protected].
Archie is available at three levels. Most people should start with Tier 1.

The fastest way to try Archie is through the Archie GPT on ChatGPT. No setup required -- click the link and start asking questions. The GPT handles the most common needs: looking up RI policy, answering governance questions, and walking you through procedures. It works in a single conversation window, so each chat starts fresh. This is the recommended starting point for all Rotarians.
Tier 1: Use Archie (Custom GPT)
</aside>
The GPT and a project use the same governing documents. The difference is what happens over time. A project remembers your previous conversations, builds context as you work, and can produce longer outputs like templates, checklists, and multi-step plans. If you use Archie regularly, a project becomes more useful the more you use it. Available on Claude or ChatGPT. Takes 15-20 minutes with a step-by-step guide.
Tier 2: Build Your Own Archie (Projects)
The standard project is built on RI's global documents. Customization lets you layer in your own district's policies, standing rules, or role-specific priorities so Archie can cite both RI and local rules in the same response. This section will include ready-made code snippet ideas you can drop into a Tier 2 project -- no prompt writing from scratch. Submit any ideas you have created!
Not sure what to ask Archie? The Prompt Library is a collection of ready-to-use prompts organized by topic and role -- governance, membership, Foundation, public image, and more. Copy a prompt, paste it into any version of Archie, and get a useful answer right away. These work with the GPT, a project, or a customized instance.
